Checking Out (but never leaving) (2012): this was the first documentary that I made; my thesis piece at Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU). This documentary details my substance abuse issues and how they affected the relationships in my life from age 17-22. I still struggle with substance abuse, but I’ve been living a much more sober life. With a clearer head, I’ve been able to see what is behind the use. Addictions are a way of coping, unhealthy for me, but a way that I dealt with my issues at the time.
Significant Film Experiences (2014): This short documentary explores the experiences of local Filmmakers and Artists with watching film for the first time. These formative experiences, retold in casual interviews, invite the viewer to consider how our introductory experiences with film shape our relationships to the cinematic world.
